Alexander Wood
Global AmbassadorAlex has been focused on business in the Indo-Pacific region since the mid-1990s and has lived in Bangkok since 2001.
He believes in the power of free and creative enterprise and is inspired by both Western libertarian and Eastern spiritual traditions. In the latter it is the Shakti, Kundalini and Tantra philosophies which interest him most and which he feels convey the true meaning of creative freedom. Not surprisingly he sees female education and women-led business as being critical to sustainable economic growth, particularly in the developing world.
Alex is co-founder and CEO of AWR Lloyd, (www.awrlloyd.com), an independent consultancy and M&A boutique with a 23-year track record focused on catalyzing the transformation to more sustainable growth in the Indo-Pacific region. In 2022, AWR Lloyd was ranked by Vault as No.2 for Diversity and No.3 for Innovation in the consulting sector of the Asia-Pacific region. AWR Lloyd deliberately sets out to challenge oligopolistic tendencies and orthodox thinking in the worlds of strategy consulting and investment banking.
Alex is also on the board of Globalscope, with responsibility for Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Globalscope (www.globalscopepartners.com) is a global network of independent M&A firms, which closed over US$20 billion in transactions last year. AWR Lloyd is the lead co-ordinating firm in the Globalscope network for the Energy Transition sectors: critical minerals, renewable power, green hydrogen, alternative fuels, e-mobility, energy efficiency, advanced batteries, recycling and carbon innovation.
Alex was educated at the London School of Economics and Oxford University. In 1991 he joined Banque Paribas, and for 9 years was active in managing investment banking deals in the emerging markets, before co-founding AWR Lloyd in 2000.
